Now that the ACX7509 is powered on, let’s do some iniꢁal configuraꢁon to get it up and running on the
network. It’s simple to configure and manage the ACX7509 using the CLI. You can also onboard and
manage the ACX7509 by using Paragon Automaꢁon. To onboard this device using Paragon Automaꢁon,
see Onboard Cloud-Ready Devices with Paragon Automaꢁon.
Plug and Play
The ACX7509 router ships with factory-default seꢀngs that enable plug-and-play operaꢁon. These
seꢀngs load as soon as you power on the router.
Customize the Basic Configuraꢀon
You can easily customize the factory-default configuraꢁon with just a few commands. Iniꢁally, you’ll
need to make changes through the console port. Aſter you configure the management port, you can
access the ACX7509 using SSH and make addiꢁonal configuraꢁon changes. You can always revert to the
factory-default configuraꢁon whenever you want.
Have the following informaꢁon ready before you begin customizing the router:
• Hostname
• Root authenꢁcaꢁon password
• Management port IP address
• Default gateway IP address
• IP address and prefix length of remote prefixes
• (Opꢁonal) SNMP read community, locaꢁon, and contact informaꢁon
1. Verify that the following default serial port seꢀngs are configured on your laptop or desktop PC:
• Baud Rate—9600
• Flow Control—None
• Data—8
• Parity—None
• Stop Bits—1
