Table 2: Cabinet Requirements for ACX710 Routers
Cabinet Requirement
Guidelines
Cabinet size and clearance
The minimum cabinet size for accommodaꢀng an ACX710 router is 19.5
in. (49.5 cm) deep. Large cabinets improve airflow and reduce the chance
of overheaꢀng.
Cabinet airflow requirements
When you mount the router in a cabinet, ensure that venꢀlaꢀon through
the cabinet is sufficient to prevent overheaꢀng.
Ensure that the cool air supply you provide through the cabinet
adequately dissipates the thermal output of the router (or routers).
Ensure that the cabinet allows the chassis hot exhaust air from the
chassis to exit the cabinet without recirculaꢀng into the router. An
open cabinet (without a top or doors) that employs hot air exhaust
extracꢀon from the top allows the best airflow through the chassis. If
the cabinet contains a top or doors, perforaꢀons in these elements
assist with removing the hot exhaust air.
In the ACX710 router, air is pulled through the front of the chassis
towards the fan tray, from where it is exhausted out of the chassis.
Install the router in the cabinet in a way that maximizes the open
space on the rear side of the chassis. This maximizes the clearance for
criꢀcal airflow.
Route and dress all cables to minimize the blockage of airflow to and
from the chassis.
Ensure that the spacing of rails and adjacent cabinets allows for
proper clearance around the router and cabinet.
Router Clearance Requirements
For the cooling system to funcꢀon properly, the airflow around the chassis must be unrestricted. You
must allow sufficient clearance around the installed chassis for cooling and maintenance.
If you are mounꢀng an ACX710 in a rack with other equipment, ensure that the exhaust from the other
equipment does not blow into the intake vents of the ACX710 chassis.
